    Falconry Displays

    Dates: 1st April 2015 to 30th September 2015

    Free flying demonstrations take place in the Falconry Arena in front of the Maze.
    The demonstration lasts about 30 to 40 minutes and features a range of birds including Hawks, Vulture, Falcon and Owls.

    The Chelsea Fringe at Leeds Castle - 'Thinking Outside the Wheelbarrow'

    Leeds Castle will once again celebrate The Chelsea Fringe Festival and this year, we’re 'thinking outside the wheelbarrow'. Lookout for our creative upcycled plant displays around the grounds, inspired by the history of the Castle.

    As the days lengthen and the nights grow warmer, spring bank holiday is a perfect time to enjoy dinner at The Great British Kitchen with family and friends. If the weather is fine, start the evening on the terrace with a fruity glass of Pimm's as part of the menu, before sitting down to a choice of three beautifully balanced courses.

    The Leeds Castle Watercolour Challenge

    Turn your love for Leeds Castle into a work of art, fit for a Royal Palace! This summer, Leeds Castle is on the hunt for England’s finest undiscovered artistic talent. We would like to invite you to paint the majestic 900 year old Castle in watercolour and enter our competition to win a money can’t buy prize.
    The winning masterpiece will be transformed into a range of new merchandise to be sold in the Leeds Castle shops for visitors from all over the world to purchase. All money raised from the sale of these items will go towards preserving the Castle for future generations to enjoy.
    The best entries will be selected by the Leeds Castle art panel and put on display at the Castle during September 2015. Thousands of visitors will be able to cast their vote to choose their favourite painting. The three most popular entries will then be assessed by a special guest judge who will choose the winner.

     Over the last 900 years, countless alterations and modernisations have been made to the Grade I listed castle by generations of previous owners. Discover what happened in 1660 to cause half of the castle to fall into the moat and what a medieval toilet in Henry VIII’s time would have looked like!

    Join us on a tour to find out more about the State & Battlement Bedrooms at Leeds Castle, which are not open to the public. See the rooms preferred by King Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson during their stays, and more recently by Pavarotti and Cliff Richard. These truly magnificent rooms are not to be missed.

    This session is particularly good for children who are taking part in the Leeds Castle Aquathlon and is open to all under 16 year old novice triathletes.
    It is designed specifically for first time and novice triathletes and is focussed on helping to develop skills, build confidence and ensure that the junior athletes have a good experience in the open water.

    Children can paint their very own terracotta plant pot by the maze. Once the paint is dry, the Castle gardening team will help you plant a sunflower seed (donated by Chiltern Seeds)  in your pot to take home and grow.
    There is an additional charge of £4 per child.

    Join the Falconry team who will take you on a walk through the Upper parkland. Learn more about these magnificent Birds of Prey whilst having the opportunity to fly hawks from glove to glove. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing.
    Tickets £20 per person. A valid admission ticket is also required. The walk is from 11am to 12pm or 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
     

        Photo Editing Course

    Photo Editing Course

    Dates: 8th June 2015

    A full day course with professional photographer Robert Canis. Learn how to use Adobe Lightroom to create great images, manage your photographs and showcase them with impact. Over the course of four and a half hours, you will also have the opportunity to take photos in the beautiful grounds and gardens. This course is suitable for all ages and abilities.
    Price £65 per person (includes a one-day ticket to Leeds Castle and refreshments). Max 8 people per session. Tickets must be pre-booked online. Please bring with you a laptop with Adobe Lightroom installed.

    Celebrate the best of British in VIP style at the Leeds Castle Open Air Classical Concert with wonderful music from the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by John Rigby.
    After checking into your magnificent Castle bedroom, enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the Henry VIII Banqueting Hall before a Champagne toast on the Castle Island Sundial Terrace as the cannons fire to officially open the concert. Watch the live entertainment from the comfort of your VIP marquee and enjoy a delicious menu from the mouth-watering chefs’ tables.
    The concert finale is a dramatic fireworks display choreographed to classical music followed by late night drinks and nibbles in the Castle. For residential guests a full English breakfast is served the following morning.

    The Leeds Castle Open Air Classical Concert will feature the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by John Rigby, this year preluded by The Definitive Rat Pack.
    Now in its 37th year the concert is a highlight of the summer season. Last year, the crowd of 11,000 sang along to the traditional and uplifting music, waving flags as they enjoyed their picnics in the vast natural amphitheatre at Leeds Castle and an emotional finale of stunning fireworks and booming field guns as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra played the famous 1812 Overture.

    Join Costume Historian Lee Ault in the Maiden's Tower for an afternoon talk and display of vintage fashion from the fabulous 1930s. Drawing on her experience working for the V&A and Tate Gallery, Lee will guide you through the golden age of glamour for women’s fashion. Discover what ‘back flap knickers’ were and see an original ‘little black dress’ by Coco-Chanel amongst other haute-couture garments.

    This year marks the 11th anniversary of this fundraising event for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Returning to the Castle, where the very first Demelza Run was held, participants of all ages are welcome. Suitable for novice runners taking on their first 5k to experienced runners who are looking for a more challenging 10k.

    Enjoy an evening Pimms reception and tour of the floral designs before an indulgent three-course dinner in the Henry VIII Banqueting Hall featuring flowers from the Castle gardens.
    Relax in the opulent Drawing Rooms over coffee and chocolates before retiring at midnight to your luxurious Castle bedroom. A full English breakfast is served the following morning in the Dining Room.

    Start the evening with a glass of Champagne served in the Terrace Room of the 17th Century Fairfax Hall with spectacular views of the 900 year old Castle.
    A delicious three-course dinner will be a celebration in itself with dishes including salmon and cod terrine and Chicken Wellington.
    Dance the night away with a disco before your Champagne glass is refilled for the midnight toast followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
    Residential guests retire to the Stable Courtyard Bedrooms just a short stroll away and have the choice of a full English or Continental breakfast the following morning in the Fairfax Hall.
