    Royal Armouries are bringing to the Castle two of the finest pieces from their collection; the extraordinary ‘horned helmet’ given to King Henry VIII by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximillian I and Henry’s own ‘tonlet’ armour, made for him to wear at the tournament of the Field of the Cloth of Gold.
    It’s a return journey for the armour, as Henry stayed at the Castle on his way to France just before the event in 1520. There is an accompanying exhibition showing how Tudor armour was made, with wonderful craftsmanship and more examples of Henry’s armour.

    Alice Brings Wonderland to your Doorstep! The Cambridge Touring Theatre will perform their family fun musical adaptation of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland' on the Pavilion Lawn with a delightful summer evening of song and dance to captivate the imagination of children.
    Logic is abandoned in this wonderfully interactive tale of childhood and imagination as Alice meets White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter and the March Hare.
    Filled with catchy songs such as ‘A Flea and a Fly in a Flu’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat’, this lively performance is brought to life for families with music, dancing and a host of pranks that appeal to both children and adults alike.

    The Wildlife Warden will take you on a guided walk around the magnificent Castle parkland highlighting unusual wildlife en route. See the stunning views from this normally unvisited part of the estate.

     Over the last 900 years, countless alterations and modernisations have been made to the Grade I listed castle by generations of previous owners.       Wildlife Weekend

    Join the wildlife team for a weekend of crafts from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. Experts will be on hand to answer questions, show visitors the Castle’s wildlife through binoculars and to help make fun animal crafts. There will also be an opportunity to meet an owl during the course of the day and to feed the estate’s wildfowl at our 4.30pm duck feed.

    As the shadows lengthen across the moat and toward the Castle, join historical author Alison Weir and other guests for a welcome drink of wine, beer or cordials on the Terrace of the oak-beamed 17th Century Fairfax Restaurant barn. At 7pm you will be invited into the Terrace Room to listen to an intriguing talk entitled ‘The Monstrous Regiment of Women: Tudor Queens and Commoners’. Alison is currently the best-selling female historian in the UK specialising in royalty, particularly queens, from the Medieval and Tudor periods.
    Following the talk, make your way into the Fairfax Hall with Alison to enjoy a wonderful summer feast. Choose from starters such as flame grilled asparagus, soft poached duck egg with bacon and onion crumb; move onto poached salmon, spring chicken or delicious caramelised onion tart.     The return to a glorious past will culminate in a thrilling Grand Tournament comprising authentic jousts and a real life unplanned Mêlée. Visitors will see the squires arm the knights in full plate armour, before witnessing four knightly warriors compete in this thrilling special ticketed event. Experience the colourful life of the Middle Ages with exciting have-a-go children’s activities, explore the sights and sounds of the Medieval Market and relive the past through living history encampments and combat displays.
    Tickets £24 per adult, £21 per concessions, £16 per child. Tiered seating is also available to purchase on the day of the event for £5 per seat (for all sessions). Annual tickets to Leeds Castle are not valid for this event.

With demonstrations daily, children’s activities and entertainment as well as a wide choice of hot and cold food available, there is something to suit everyone’s taste.     Step back to the 1930s and experience an evening of glamour at Leeds Castle. Join in a game of croquet on the lawn before relaxing in an elegant wooden punt and floating gently through the ancient arches of the 900 year old Castle. A delicious afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream and home baked cakes will then be taken in the Dining Room. 
    The evening’s entertainment will begin with ‘prohibition’ cocktails accompanied by live 1930s music. Join the guided tour of the castle followed by a delicious three-course dinner to be served in the Banqueting Hall.  After dinner coffee and chocolates are served in the Drawing Room. Stay overnight in the Castle bedrooms with a full English breakfast the following morning.

      The Demelza Run

    This year marks the 10th anniversary of this fundraising event for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Returning to the castle, where the very first Demelza Run was held, participants of all ages are welcome. Suitable for novice runners taking on their first 5k to experienced runners who are looking for a more challenging 10k.
    In 2013 the Demelza Run raised an extraordinary £55,000 to help the charity continue its work caring for life-limited children and their families in Kent, East Sussex and South London.
    Entry costs £15 for adults, £5 for children, £35 for a family of four (2 adults & 2 children).

    The timeless poetry of Kipling and Keats provide the theme for talented designers and floral societies to transform the state rooms of Leeds Castle into an extravaganza of autumn scents and colours. Children’s flower trails will take place in the Castle. A valid entrance ticket to Leeds Castle is required for this event.

    A rare opportunity to improve your photography skills and capture the castle grounds and autumn flowers with your own equipment with professional guidance from Robert Canis.
    Robert will explain the various controls on your camera and discuss such things as composition, lighting, exposure and lens selection. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop and set up your shot for photographs in the grounds. The workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities and each walk lasts approximately three hours.

    Sessions available from 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm
    £40 per person (includes a one-day ticket to Leeds Castle and refreshments)
