For Posterity not for Profit

Leeds Castle Foundation Logo For more than half a million visitors each year, Leeds Castle and its estate is considered a national treasure, providing a window onto nine hundred years of British history, a haven of tranquillity and a world of discovery and enjoyment.

The aim of the Charitable Foundation is 'the preservation of the Castle, its collections and interiors, and its estate for the benefit of the public.' To achieve this aim, there is an on-going programme of maintenance and restoration of this magnificent 12th Century Castle requiring expertise, care and of course, money. All profits go towards this aim, the Charitable Foundation receiving no external funding to further this good work. Therefore we are extremely grateful to each and every visitor who contributes by purchasing a ticket or staying here in one of the delightful cottages or other overnight accommodation.

Amongst many of the important projects carried out over the past five years, money raised with your help has gone towards conserving and re-pointing the oldest parts of the Castle’s outer stonework, improving accessibility for all, and providing educational visits for over 50,000 children a year, among so much more.

For Posterity not for Profit

How you are helping the charitable foundation

Funds raised through admission tickets, accommodation and catering are reinvested into vital and ongoing projects. Our curator, alongside a team of experts both in-house and out, work tirelessly to ensure the fabric of the historic buildings, the maintenance of the parklands and the conservation of many of the priceless objects in the Castle are carefully conserved and restored.

Below are stories of past, on-going and future projects:

Castle Stonework | The Yellow Drawing Room | The Castle Dining Room | The Castle Library | The Thorpe Hall Drawing Room | The Bath House

Be a Gift Aid Visitor

Gift Aid LogoLeeds Castle is a registered charity and you can support our charitable aims through Gift Aid. If you are a UK tax payer then, as a charity, we can claim 25% back from the Government on both your donation and entrance fee if you choose to Gift Aid it.

Tickets can be Gift Aided without including a donation as they are valid for one year from the date of purchase. We can only claim Gift Aid if you are purchasing for yourself and your family. If you are purchasing for people who are not family members then please tell a member of staff.

Donate to Leeds Castle

Despite invaluable revenue from admission tickets and events at the Castle, there are never enough funds raised to carry out all the important projects and conservation work required. As a regular visitor to the Castle or someone who has only visited once and fallen in love with this historic monument, please consider giving the Charitable Foundation a one-off or regular donation.
