Coloured final design for lantern type “D”, shown in P3/40/4/41. Designed to hang under the archway of the Gatehouse, the pulley allowing it to be raised to accommodate high vehicles. Based on a late 16th-century example from Italy, made of wrought iron and cut sheet metal. Undated.
