Owen Carey Little (1865-1931) was a British architect who worked alongside Rateau on the redevelopment of Leeds Castle. Little would send his plans to Rateau in Paris, who would initial them (if approved) and then return them to London. Their working relationship has been described as “harmonious” and Rateau’s son recalled Little spending an enjoyable weekend with the Rateau family at their home in Bougival on the River Seine. Little also carried out several independent building projects at Leeds Castle, including the gate lodges and this work on the Gloriette flues. He died suddenly at his London home on 2 April 1931, a few weeks after this drawing was made.
