The Queen’s Joust

Join us at Leeds Castle for our medieval jousting event this May bank holiday 2026 for an exhilarating display of combat and action, elegant and unusual equestrian, and medieval living and feasting.

Gasp as lances crash, cheer for your champion, and watch as England, France, and Norway battle for the coveted cup—and the queen’s favour. If you’re looking for things to do in Kent with a dramatic twist, we’ll see you in the crowd.

In true jousting event tradition, victory isn’t guaranteed by skill alone. If the queen deems a knight unworthy, she may choose another. Armor, charm, and honor all play their part. You just need to provide the applause.

We’re still refining the details, but be sure to add the dates to your calendar!

Meet the jousting teams

For the first time ever, three teams will compete for glory in the Leeds Castle International Cup! England and France return to the field, joined by new challengers—Norway.

Over three thrilling days, skilled fighters from England, France, and Norway will battle for the prestigious title. Each competitor, armed with their own horse and precious armour, will accumulate points across all three days. The team with the highest score will claim the coveted cup and the prize of the queen.

The tournament consists of four challenging events, each designed to test strength, skill, and determination.
