80 Year Old Competitor John Brown Completes the Leeds Castle Triathlon

The fourth Leeds Castle Triathlon took place last weekend, with almost 1000 competitors putting themselves to the test with a run, cycle and swim challenge under the arches of “the loveliest Castle in the world”. 

 The weekend was divided into three separate races; Sprint, Standard and Junior Aquathlon. The fastest person to cross the finish line in the Sprint race this year was Andrei Belonogoff who completed the triathlon in just 1 hour, 17 minutes and 31 seconds! Andrei came first out of 547 competitors. 

The oldest competitor this year, John Brown entered in the ‘Super Veteran’ category aged 80. John finished the race in 2 hours 25 minutes. He completed the swim in just over 31 minutes, the cycle in 1 hour and 12 minutes and the final stage of the event, the run in 35 minutes. 

The Sprint race took place on Saturday 24th June and included a 750m open water swim, 26k road cycle and 5k run across the Castle estate. In the afternoon, there was a Junior Aquathlon for children aged from 8 to 14 years old, won by Liam Budd with a finish time of 18 minutes and 47 seconds.
